Could you...?

...offer a reverent prayer or small deed for my father in law tonight? We would be so grateful.

One of the best means of assisting the dying is the one that Jesus revealed to St. Faustina and insisted that she use often, even continuously: The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy. Jesus said, "My daughter, encourage souls to say the chaplet which I have given to you. It pleases Me to grant everything they ask of Me by saying the chaplet. ... Write that when they say this chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the merciful Savior" (Diary, 1541).

My friend: Jesus did all that was necessary to pay our debt of sin to the Father when he laid down his life for us on Calvary, crying "It is finished!" - paid in full. And this is available to all who will repent and trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ alone. You don't need some special repeated prayer (Jesus warns us not to use vain repetition - see Matthew 6:7); he is waiting with arms wide open - please turn to him today! Judge yourself by the 10 Commandments & see how you look in the sight of Almighty God. Lay aside your good works, your religious works, and believe the gospel. Eternal life is a gift that no one can earn, but that God gives fully & freely to the one who believes on Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16).
